Four fun packed days.
We may have only been in school for four days this week, but we have managed to pack a lot in!
This term, the children are learning all about mini beasts and the equipment used to catch them. Our enthusiastic mini beast hunters were let loose on the school grounds where they managed to find all manner of creepy crawlies.
We have yet to find the elusive caterpillar, but it isn't from a lack of trying........................
This week was My Money Week in school, and the children have been learning how to identify, sort and add together different coins. Please encourage them to practise these skills next time you are out shopping.
The children had a fantastic time on Friday, when so many of our wonderful dads and grandads came into school for our Fathers' Day morning. They led the children in a variety of activities including cooking, ICT, multi skills, football and den making. Den making was extremely popular and became quite competitive! All the children were involved and had great fun. We would like to say a HUGE thank you to all the lovely gentlemen who took part. The children really enjoyed your company.
Finally, we rounded off the week, with a surprise visitor. Our new PAT dog friend (Pets As Therapy), Dakota arrived to hear the children read. She thoroughly enjoyed listening to the children's stories and sat beautifully throughout! Dakota will be visiting us each week and hearing small groups of children read. Even the most reluctant of readers can't resist reading to a dog! Research has shown that children benefit from reading in this way, as they are relaxed and enjoying themselves. Research on how much the dog's own grammar and spelling improves is inconclusive.
